What is Obesity?
Obesity is a condition in which the body weight of a person increases above normal due to the accumulation of fats.

What are the symptoms of obesity?
The symptoms of obesity are listed below:
  • Weight above normal
  • Thickness around the midsection
  • Fat deposits at various places in the body
  • Double chin

    What causes obesity?
    Some of the causes of obesity are listed below:
  • Genetics: A family history of obesity increases the chances of becoming obese by about 25 to 30 percent. Children whose parents are obese also tend to be overweight. However, the weight can be kept under control by being determined and following the steps required for the same.
  • Culture: People eat and cook the way in which they were brought up. If a wrong pattern of diet is followed for a long period of time, it may be a cause for obesity.
  • High-Calorie Diet: A person eating a high-fat diet tends to store more excess calories as body fat than someone eating a lower fat diet.
  • Medical Problems: Certain metabolic disorders like low thyroid function or hormonal imbalances may also cause obesity.

    Alternative remedies:

    Ayurvedic remedies:

  • Mix guduchi and triphala with honey. It is advisable to have this mixture at bedtime.
  • Mix Bruhat Panchamoola powder with honey. This is a good remedy to lose weight.
  • Amla powder is also useful in reducing weight.

    Aromatherapy:
    The following essential oils have the power to reduce the accumulated fats. These essential oils (any one) can be mixed with suitable carrier oil and massage at the areas where fats are accumulated.

  • Juniper
  • Lemon
  • Orange
  • Tangerine
  • Fennel

    Home remedies:

  • In the morning have a glass of warm water mixed with juice of ½ lime and 1teaspoon honey.
  • Mix 3 teaspoons of lime juice with 1/2 tsp pepper powder. Now, add some honey in 1-cup water. Drink this for at least 3 -4 months.

    Diet therapy:

  • Include high-fiber and unrefined complex carbohydrates in your diet.
  • Replace daily consumption of soft drinks, fruit juices, and milk with six to eight glasses of water.
  • Avoid sugar and sugar containing food like chocolates, pastries…etc.

    Yoga:

  • Exercise regularly. Running and swimming are equally good.
  • Yogasanas like Veerasana, Trikonasana, ArdhaMatsyendrasana, Paschimotannasana, SaralHastaBhujangasana, Sarvangasana, Halasana and Dhanurasana can work wonders if practiced regularly with a positive mental attitude.
